In the case of the health benefits, the HEAT tool was used to produce an estimate of the annual benefit average (per cyclist; per trip; and total annual benefit) from the reduction in mortality as a result of cycling.

The values presented were determined by comparing scenarios, regarding the impacts of physical activity and air pollution associated with the use of the bicycle:

• Reference scenario: 2011 census
• Comparison scenario: ITDP 2021 (increase 2.02% of the modal share of the bicycle in 10 years)
