BooST aimed to provide different support tools which, as a whole, contextualize the bicycle and its benefits in the greater human scale paradigm. Simultaneously, they directly respond to the particular needs of the starter context, with clear and relevant information to forward the debate between the different participating entities. Three tools were developed, focusing on three distinct challenges:
- Clarify the benefits of the bicycle (Why promote the bicycle?) – Economic Value for Cycling;
- Spatialize its potential (Where to promote the bicycle?) – Gross Potential for Cycling;
- Facilitate its strategic development (How to promote the bicycle?) – Cycling Measures Selector.
To this end, project BooSt developed the Roadmap for Starter Cycling Cities. It gathers the details on each tool, along with the knowledge used in their development and their findings. The results included input from local authorities, planning technicians, academics, activists and students, validating the results through different points of view.
This document serves not only as a vehicle of dissemination of the project’s main findings but also as a guiding tool for all the relevant content available on the project’s website.
