In Ghana, a new means of transportation is popping-up: bamboo bikes. Crafting bamboo into bike frames, Boomers has made thousands of sustainable bikes. Besides using a raw material that is less polluting than steel, aluminum or titanium , the bikes are said to be stronger and lighter. The bikes are not only environmentally sustainable, but also contribute to the economic and social well-being of local communities, employing and training youngsters from rural areas and paying farmers for extracting bamboo.
